Botanical art is an extraordinary art form which captures the colour, form and detail of plants to realistically represent their natural beauty.

This day will be an opportunity to learn the techniques of sketching an object with proportionality, and to record the light and tone that will create depth and detail in your botanical art.

Join us for an introduction to the main principles of botanical art, and get tips on planning and sketching your own artworks. Try your hand at watercolours and discover how to create depth with light and tone. By the end of the day you’ll have learned how to sketch with detail and proportion, and be confident to create your own botanical artworks.

Learners will need to bring:

A packed lunch

Sketch pad

Smooth Watercolour paper A4

Watercolour paints
