Ways to Play: Design

Design and make your own playful sculpture, inspired by the Shipley Art Gallery’s collection.

Jane Charles, sculptural form, Shipley Art Gallery

Until Sunday 28 February

Design and make your own playful sculpture, inspired by the Shipley Art Gallery’s collection. Play with colour, shape and composition to create your own 3D abstract artwork.

The Shipley is home to a world-class collection of painting, craft and design. You can explore the collections on our website, or by visiting when we reopen. See how artists and makers have got creative with a wide range of materials - then have a go yourself.

Fold, cut and tear different shapes, to create a sculpture which leaps off the page. Maybe you’ll create a model of an amazing imaginary space you’d like to play in. Or you could listen to some music to inspire you – which shapes could you create to represent the sounds you can hear?

We'd love it if you shared photographs of your creations with us on our social media channels - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.
