Julie Milne, the Chief Curator of Art Galleries, has won the Outstanding Contribution Award at the North East Culture Awards
Success at the North East Culture Awards
We're pleased to announce that Julie Milne, Chief Curator of Art Galleries at North East Museums, has been awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award at the North East Culture Awards.
Julie has worked at North East Museums for over 20 years and has led a variety of outstanding projects at the Laing, Hatton, and Shipley galleries.
She led the redevelopment of the Hatton Gallery in partnership with Newcastle University, followed by bringing the Lindisfarne Gospels to Newcastle for a hugely popular and nationally significant exhibition. She steered the Laing's Museum in Residence exhibition at 10 Downing Street and most recently there has been the triumph that was the Turner: Art, Industry and Nostalgia exhibition at the Laing Art Gallery. At the same time, Julie has overseen the Shipley Art Gallery in Gateshead becoming one of the most significant collections of contemporary ceramics in the UK.
