About

Join us for a taught art class for 7-12 year olds and their grown ups.

At each session you'll be taught by professional artist Simon and will try different techniques such as watercolours, ceramics, mixed media, drawing, and more.

Session themes:

  • 23 July: Drawing birds, with a step-by-step introduction.
  • 30 July: Create your own fantastic animals from different images and your imagination.
  • 6 August: Create a weaving using different coloured papers.
  • 20 August: Drawing animals, with a step-by-step introduction.
  • 27 August: Make a museum pop-up card, inspired by objects on display.

Our artist has extensive experience of working with young people including Neurodivergent and SEND children and families. These sessions will be designed to be welcoming and inclusive for all.

  • Suitable for ages 7 - 12.
  • Accompanying younger siblings and babies cannot be admitted.
  • All children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • You're welcome to bring a packed lunch / snack.
  • Classes run every Tuesday in the summer holidays except 13 August. You can book one-offs or the whole series.

We understand that some young people may be older than 12 but find the class age appropriate due to SEND - please contact Hannah.Mackay-Jackson@twmuseums.org.uk if this applies to you.

If you can, please consider leaving a donation when you book today. We rely on the generosity of our visitors to help us keep art and heritage at the heart of the North East. Thank you.
