About

Come and find out more about the Shipley’s latest exhibition in an illustrated talk by curator Michael McHugh.

From 1933 – 1969 the museum was based in Saltwell Towers in Saltwell Park. After it closed, the collection of objects was moved into museums across Tyne and Wear, and was not to be displayed again until nearly 40 years later.

In June 2016 a new permanent exhibition opened at the Shipley Art Gallery, dedicated to the Saltwell Park Museum Collection - Saltwell Park Museum at the Shipley.

Come along to this illustrated talk to find out what happened to Saltwell Park Museum and its collection, and discover how the new gallery was made. Afterwards there will be a chance to look around the gallery at your leisure and ask the curator questions.

Includes refreshments (donations welcome)

Make the most of your visit
